KDA-UK focuses on matters related to the Korean nation, Korean people, and Korean communities in the UK and worldwide, providing essential support for Korean community initiatives. Volunteers are expected to have a relevant understanding, experience, or cultural connection to Korean identity, Korean communities, or the broader East Asian context.
Our volunteering opportunities are open to individuals of Korean heritage, as well as British citizens and other nationalities based in the UK. We also welcome individuals from outside the UK who bring relevant experience or a meaningful connection to Korean or East Asian communities.
English is essential for all volunteers, as it is the primary working language of the organization. Korean language skills are highly important for roles involving direct engagement with Korean individuals, communities, and programs. For such positions, both English and Korean proficiency are expected.
For general support roles, such as event setup, logistics, or practical assistance, Korean language skills are not required. However, additional language skills are welcomed and may be beneficial depending on the role.
Volunteers may include:
a) Individuals of Korean identity or heritage
b) Individuals of other nationalities with meaningful experience working with Korean or East Asian communities
c) Those who understand and respect Korean history, culture, and social context
KDA-UK respects all races, cultures, and backgrounds. However, as a mission-focused organization, we ask volunteers to work within the cultural framework and values of KDA-UK and not to introduce or promote unrelated cultural agendas within our activities. This approach helps us maintain clarity of purpose and unity in our efforts to serve the Korean community, ensuring effective Korean community support.
