The Korean Diaspora Association (KDA-UK) is an independent, non-profit organisation based in the United Kingdom, dedicated to supporting and connecting the Korean community, both locally and in global Korean connections worldwide. 

As a proud member of NCVO (National Council for Voluntary Organisations), the UK’s leading network of voluntary organisations representing over 17,000 members, KDA-UK emphasizes its commitment to Korean community support. 

Our mission is to strengthen unity, preserve cultural identity, and create opportunities for collaboration, development, and mutual support among Koreans in the UK and globally. 

We aim to provide a platform where individuals can connect, share knowledge, and grow together—both culturally and professionally. Through community initiatives, partnerships, and outreach activities, KDA-UK seeks to build meaningful connections across generations and borders. 

KDA-UK operates independently and is not affiliated with any government or political organisation. Our work is guided by principles of respect, inclusion, and service to the community.

한국 디아스포라 협회(KDA-UK)는 영국에 기반을 둔 독립적인 비영리 단체로, 영국 및 전 세계 한인 공동체를 지원하고 연결하는 데 헌신하고 있습니다. 

한국 디아스포라 협회(KDA-UK)는 영국의 대표적인 자원봉사 단체 네트워크인 국가 자원봉사단체 협의회(NCVO)의 회원 단체이며, 국가 자원봉사단체 협의회는 17,000개 이상의 회원 기관을 대표하고 있습니다. 

KDA-UK 의 사명은 영국 및 전 세계 한인들 간의 연대를 강화하고, 문화적 정체성을 보존하며, 협력과 발전, 상호 지원을 위한 기회를 창출하는 것입니다. 

우리는 사람들이 서로 연결되고 지식을 나누며, 문화적·전문적으로 함께 성장할 수 있는 플랫폼을 제공합니다. 다양한 커뮤니티 활동과 협력, 아웃리치 활동을 통해 세대와 국경을 넘어 의미 있는 연결을 구축하고자 합니다. 

KDA-UK는 어떠한 정부나 정치 단체에도 소속되지 않은 독립적인 조직이며, 우리의 활동은 존중, 포용, 그리고 공동체에 대한 헌신을 바탕으로 이루어집니다.

Sumin Tae is the President of the Korean Diaspora Association (KDA-UK), an organization dedicated to fostering global Korean connections and strengthening Korean community support in the UK and worldwide.

She is also the author of the upcoming book The Cry of the Motherland, which reflects on the history, identity, and lived experiences of the Korean people across generations. The book is currently being prepared for publication.

In addition to her role at KDA-UK, Sumin Tae is a business owner of a newly developing Health & Beauty Wellness brand in the UK.

Born into a mixed-heritage family in the former Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic (RSFSR), Sumin was raised within a close-knit Korean community in Central Asia. Influenced by her grandparents, respected leaders in their community, she developed strong values of unity, responsibility, and mutual support from an early age.

Her Korean lineage connects to a rich historical heritage rooted in royal and political backgrounds from the Russian Far East and Sakhalin. Growing up in a vibrant Korean community instilled in her a profound respect for cultural identity, collective wellbeing, and the importance of supporting the Korean diaspora.

After relocating to the United Kingdom in the 1990s, Sumin gained British citizenship, built a family, and raised two children while continuing her personal and professional development.

Her professional experience includes collaborating with legal professionals and engaging in various media and creative industries, including film and television. She has participated in civic and political activities in the UK, enhancing her understanding of public service, governance, and community representation.

In her late 50s, Sumin embarked on a new chapter with a clear purpose. She founded the Korean Diaspora Association (KDA-UK) as a tribute to her ancestors and as a reflection of her long-standing commitment to support, connect, and unite the global Korean diaspora with Korea.

태수민

태수민은 영국 한인 디아스포라 협회(KDA-UK)의 회장으로, 영국 및 전 세계 한인 사회의 연결을 강화하고 한인 공동체를 지원하기 위해 설립된 단체를 이끌고 있습니다.

그녀는 또한 현재 출간을 준비 중인 저서 『조국의 외침(The Cry of the Motherland)』의 저자입니다. 이 책은 여러 세대에 걸친 한국인의 역사, 정체성, 그리고 삶의 경험을 다루고 있습니다.

KDA-UK 활동 외에도 태수민은 영국에서 새롭게 성장하고 있는 헬스 & 뷰티 웰니스 브랜드의 사업가로 활동하고 있습니다.

태수민은 구 소련 러시아 소비에트 연방 사회주의 공화국(RSFSR)에서 다양한 문화적 배경을 가진 가정에서 태어났으며, 중앙아시아의 긴밀한 한인 공동체 속에서 성장했습니다. 지역사회에서 존경받던 조부모님의 영향을 받아 어린 시절부터 화합, 책임감, 그리고 상호 지원의 가치를 배웠습니다.

그녀의 가문은 러시아 극동 지역과 사할린에 뿌리를 둔 역사적 유산과 연결되어 있으며, 왕실 및 정치적 배경을 가진 한국계 가문으로 알려져 있습니다. 활발한 한인 공동체 속에서 성장한 경험은 그녀에게 문화적 정체성, 공동체의 복지, 그리고 디아스포라 한인들을 지원하는 일의 중요성을 깊이 인식하게 했습니다.

1990년대 영국으로 이주한 후 태수민은 영국 시민권을 취득하였으며, 가정을 이루고 두 자녀를 양육하는 한편 지속적으로 자신의 역량과 전문성을 발전시켜 왔습니다.

그녀는 법률 전문가들과 협력한 경험을 비롯하여 영화, 방송, 미디어 등 다양한 창작 산업 분야에서 활동해 왔습니다. 또한 영국 내 시민사회 및 공공 활동에도 참여하며 공공 서비스, 거버넌스, 그리고 지역사회 대표성에 대한 이해를 넓혀 왔습니다.

50대 후반에 들어 태수민은 새로운 사명과 목표를 가지고 새로운 도전을 시작했습니다. 그녀는 조상들의 유산을 기리고, 전 세계 한인 디아스포라를 한국과 연결하며 서로를 지원하고 하나로 묶고자 하는 오랜 비전을 실현하기 위해 영국 한인 디아스포라 협회(KDA-UK)를 설립하였습니다.
