The United Korean Diaspora Association (UKDA) is an independent, non-profit organisation based in the United Kingdom, dedicated to supporting and connecting Korean communities in the UK and worldwide.
The United Korean Diaspora Association (UKDA) is a member of NCVO (National Council for Voluntary Organisations), the UK’s leading network of voluntary organisations representing over 17,000 members.
Our mission is to strengthen unity, preserve cultural identity, and create opportunities for collaboration, development, and mutual support among Koreans in the UK and worldwide.
We aim to provide a platform where individuals can connect, share knowledge, and grow together — both culturally and professionally. Through community initiatives, partnerships, and outreach activities, UKDA seeks to build meaningful connections across generations and borders.
UKDA operates independently and is not affiliated with any government or political organisation. Our work is guided by principles of respect, inclusion, and service to the community.

유나이티드 한인 디아스포라 협회(UKDA)는 영국에 기반을 둔 독립적인 비영리 단체로, 영국 및 전 세계 한인 커뮤니티를 지원하고 연결하는 것을 목표로 합니다.
재영 한인 디아스포라 협회는 17,000개 이상의 단체를 대표하는 영국 최대 자원봉사 네트워크인 영국 자원봉사단체 협의회(NCVO)의 회원입니다.
UKDA의 사명은 영국 및 전 세계 한인들 간의 연대를 강화하고, 문화적 정체성을 보존하며, 협력과 발전, 상호 지원을 위한 기회를 창출하는 것입니다.
우리는 사람들이 서로 연결되고 지식을 나누며, 문화적·전문적으로 함께 성장할 수 있는 플랫폼을 제공합니다. 다양한 커뮤니티 활동과 협력, 아웃리치 활동을 통해 세대와 국경을 넘어 의미 있는 연결을 구축하고자 합니다.

Sumin Tae is the President of the United Korean Diaspora Association (UKDA), dedicated to strengthening Korean communities in the UK and worldwide.
She is also the author of the upcoming book The Cry of the Motherland, a work that reflects on the history, identity, and lived experiences of the Korean people across generations. The book is currently in preparation and will be published soon.
Sumin Tae was born into a mixed-heritage family in the former Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic (RSFSR) and raised within a close-knit Korean community in Central Asia. Influenced by her grandparents, who were respected community leaders, she developed strong values of unity, responsibility, and mutual support from an early age.
Her Korean lineage traces back to a historical heritage connected to royal and political roots in the Russian Far East and Sakhalin. Growing up within a strong Korean community instilled in her a deep respect for cultural identity, responsibility, and collective wellbeing.
After relocating to the United Kingdom in 1990s, she became a British citizen, built a family, and raised two children while continuing her personal and professional development.
Her professional experience includes working alongside legal professionals, as well as involvement in media and creative industries, including film and television. She has also engaged in civic and political activities in the UK, gaining insight into public service, governance, and community representation.
In her late 50s, she began a new chapter with a clear purpose. She founded the United Korean Diaspora Association (UKDA) as an expression of respect for her ancestors and a reflection of her long-standing commitment to support, connect, and unite the Korean diaspora with Korea.
Roots & Heritage
Sumin Tae is descended from a lineage connected to the legacy of King Jumong of Goguryeo and the enduring spirit of Dangun. Though history has dispersed the Korean people across the world, she believes that identity and heritage remain deeply anchored.

태수민은 영국 및 전 세계 한인 커뮤니티의 강화를 위해 헌신하는 유나이티드 한인 디아스포라 협회(UKDA)의 회장입니다.
또한 곧 출간 예정인 저서 조국의 외침의 저자로서, 세대를 넘어 이어지는 한국인의 역사와 정체성, 그리고 삶의 이야기를 담고 있습니다. 현재 집필 중이며 곧 출간될 예정입니다.
태수민은 구 소련 지역의 혼혈 가정에서 태어나 중앙아시아 한인 공동체 속에서 성장하였습니다. 공동체 지도자였던 조부모님의 영향 아래, 어린 시절부터 연합과 책임, 상호 지원의 가치를 배우며 성장하였습니다.
그녀의 한민족 혈통은 러시아 극동과 사할린 지역을 기반으로 왕실 및 정치적 유산과 연결된 역사적 뿌리를 가지고 있습니다. 이러한 배경은 문화적 정체성과 공동체적 가치에 대한 깊은 존중을 형성하는 데 중요한 역할을 했습니다.
이후 영국으로 이주하여 시민권을 취득하고 가정을 이루었으며, 두 자녀를 양육하는 동시에 개인적·전문적 성장을 이어왔습니다.
법률 전문가들과의 협업 경험을 비롯해 영화 및 방송 등 미디어·창의 산업 분야에서의 경험을 가지고 있으며, 영국 내 시민 및 정치 활동에도 참여하여 공공 서비스와 거버넌스, 공동체 대표성에 대한 이해를 넓혀왔습니다.
50대 후반에 새로운 삶의 방향을 선택하며, 한인 디아스포라를 연결하고 지원하기 위한 사명으로 재영 한인 디아스포라 연합(UKDA)을 설립하였습니다. 이는 조상에 대한 존경과 헌신을 바탕으로 한 결정입니다.
뿌리와 유산
태수민은 고구려 주몽 왕의 유산과 단군의 정신에 이어진 혈통에 뿌리를 두고 있습니다. 역사의 흐름 속에서 한민족은 세계 곳곳으로 흩어졌지만, 그녀는 정체성과 유산이 깊이 자리하고 있다고 믿습니다.
